The global economy will slow down relative to last year’s strong performance, but multinational executives should look forward to another year of continued global growth in 2019 despite concerns of tightening global credit, rising populism and trade tensions driving economic shocks.
Emerging markets that are resilient to rising global financing costs and potential trade restrictions will outperform in 2019, but the prospects for rising currency volatility and tightening credit terms will put vulnerable markets under pressure. Market volatility, rising competition, and more demanding customers are making it more difficult for companies to achieve profitable growth across geographies. Given these challenges, multinationals will need to pressure-test their commercial strategies and drive investments toward their most resilient markets, keeping in mind how escalating global trade conflicts and persistent economic fragility in developed and emerging markets alike may undermine growth projections and supply chains heading into the 2020 strategic planning season.
As you look ahead to your own strategic planning process later this year, join us at one of two North America-based Global Executive Roundtable events hosted by DuckerFrontier this year, the first of which will be held in New York City on July 16th and the second in Washington D.C. on September 24th. These intimate roundtable events will be designed to help globally-focused executives stay ahead of fast-changing political and economic trends in an afternoon of candid dialogue among fellow global business leaders. The DuckerFrontier-led presentations and moderated discussions will facilitate the exchange of insights and experiences among peers, both within and across industries, on how multinationals can best prepare to capture upside opportunity and reduce exposure to market disruptions heading into the new year.
If you would like to invite someone outside of the DuckerFrontier network to participate in this event with you, please enter the individual’s name, company, and email address in the registration form to the right. As a reminder, participation in this event is limited to senior executives of multinational corporations with a global or broad regional focus. Please reach out to email@example.com with any questions.
