Alex Gorbansky, Managing Director

Alex Gorbansky is a Managing Director at Frontier Strategy Group and heads the Africa Mining and Energy Practice and also works in the Former Soviet Union and Asia. Mr. Gorbansky is a recognized industry expert and advises natural resources firms on growth and operational strategies.

Mr. Gorbansky has been featured on CNN, CNBC, CBC, and is a contributor to publications such as the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the Financial Times.

Prior to Frontier Strategy Group, Mr. Gorbansky was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Gorbansky holds a B.S. in Financial Engineering from Stanford University and studied international relations at Magdalen College, Oxford University.


Alex Turkeltaub, Managing Director

Alex Turkeltaub heads the Former Soviet Union Mining & Energy practice at the Frontier Strategy Group. Mr. Turkeltaub is an authority on above-ground risks in the former Soviet Union, Latin America, and Asia and works with clients on strategic acquisitions, new country-entry strategies, and international government relations. He has extensive experience in emerging markets and is fluent in Russian and Italian. Mr. Turkeltaub contributes frequently to major industry publications and is a regular speaker at industry conferences and events. Prior to joining the Frontier Strategy Group, Mr. Turkeltaub was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where his work focused on the extractives and banking industries. Mr. Turkeltaub holds BA and MA degrees in International Relations and International Policy Studies from Stanford University and a law degree from the Yale Law School.


Stephen Bailey, Senior Vice President

Stephen Bailey heads the Americas Mining & Energy practice at the Frontier Strategy Group. Mr. Bailey is an expert on above-ground risks in Latin America and Africa and works with clients on a range of issues including strategies around existing assets, joint ventures, and social license advisory. Prior to joining the Frontier Strategy Group, Mr. Bailey was a corporate attorney in the Washington, DC offices of Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale, & Dorr. Stephen is a member of the Board of Directors of the Truman National Security Project. Stephen holds a BA degree in History from Emory University and a law degree from the Yale Law School.


Oren Ahoobim, Vice President

Oren Ahoobim heads the Global Paper & Pulp and the Sustainable Development practices at the Frontier Strategy Group. Mr. Ahoobim is an expert on the geopolitics and economics of Africa and Asia and works with clients in mining and pulp & paper industries on new ventures and exploration, scenario planning, and portfolio management strategies. Mr. Ahoobim has conducted extensive research into the probabilistic modeling of permitting outcomes for major projects. Mr. Ahoobim is fluent in Spanish, Farsi, and Hebrew. Prior to joining Frontier Strategy Group, Mr. Ahoobim was a consultant with Mercer Management Consulting, where his work focused on the extractives and manufacturing industries. Mr. Ahoobim holds BA and MA degrees in Economics from Stanford University.


Clara Kim, Vice President

Clara Kim heads the Global Social License and NGO Management practice at the Frontier Strategy Group. Ms. Kim is an authority on social and environmental issues around the natural resources industries with a regional focus on the Americas and Africa. Ms. Kim advises clients on a social license strategies and NGO management around new ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and existing operations. Ms. Kim is fluent in Korean and highly proficient in Japanese and has international professional experience in Korea and Japan. Ms. Kim holds a BA degree in Economics and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
