The concept of Collaborative Economies will change the way that businesses think about strategy execution in emerging markets. The notion of collaboration usually elicits sentiments of teamwork, cooperation, and a sense of community. When talking about Collaborative Economies, however, threats and opportunities abound for multinational companies, especially those operating in emerging markets.
The term Collaborative Economy is frequently tossed around, but what does it really mean for an economy to be collaborative and how does it affect international business? The Collaborative Economy is the organizational structure that emphasizes shared creation, production, distribution, trade, and consumption of goods and services rather than just a better utilization of resources. Its tenants are particularly disruptive in emerging markets, where access to resources can be scarce, at least at first.
Fred McClimans, a leader in the field of competitive intelligence and one of Frontier Strategy Group’s expert advisors, gives his own insight and expert perspective on the Collaborative Economy in our latest installment of our Emerging Market Executive Spotlight Series. Our recently recorded podcast will define and explain how the Collaborative Economy is allowing businesses and individuals to rewrite the traditional manufacturing, selling, purchasing, and consumer models, and also its impact on international business dynamics.
